Russells Concrete Solutions For £350M Scheme

A £350m regeneration scheme in Coventry is the latest development to feature Russell Roof Tiles’ sustainable concrete pitched roof tiles.

The multi award-winning development, Spirit Quarters will see 3,500 new homes built for a mix of tenures including open market sale and affordable housing through Whitefriars Housing, when it completes in 2026. A development of this size and importance required significant expertise from all suppliers to ensure a smooth and successful build. Russell Roof Tiles was appointed by the project’s developer, Keepmoat Homes, as the manufacturer has a proven track record in supporting large-scale developments, providing high-quality products in a short timeframe.

Russell Roof Tiles supplied its Highland, Grampian and Lothian tiles in Slate Grey, Anthracite, Cottage Red and Peat Brown. Lothian pitched roof tiles form part of Russell Roof Tiles’ Natural Range of products – an expanding selection of thinner leading-edge interlocking concrete tiles, while the Highland and Grampian tiles are part of Russell Roof Tiles’ Commercial Range and are flat roof tiles. When laid, the tiles replicate the appearance of local slate material to meet local planning requirements.

The pitched roof tiles have also been pivotal in supporting Keepmoat’s ethos of being a sustainable housebuilder. Construction materials are an important part in achieving sustainability on new build properties and the versatility of hard-wearing concrete roof tiles ensure a stronger, long-lasting roofing solution.

The manufacturing of concrete roof tiles also requires considerably less energy usage during production and Russell Roof Tiles’ modern manufacturing methods deliver a technically consistent and quality product.

James Pendleton, Regional Sales Director at Russell Roof Tiles said: “As the demand for cost-effective, sustainable tiles increases, we are seeing more developers look to Russell Roof Tiles for an effective roofing solution and this was no different for Keepmoat Homes and its Spirit Quarters development.

“The scheme is transformational for Coventry and when completed will significantly benefit the local community. We are delighted that we were able to provide our high-quality roof tiles and contribute to such an important project.”

Charlotte Goode, Regional Managing Director of Keepmoat Homes in the West Midlands said: “We’re pleased to have worked with Russell Roof Tiles on this transformational and award-winning development in Coventry to deliver the much-needed new homes the region needs.”

Russell Roof Tiles is a pioneering independent roof tile manufacturer, providing pitched roofing solutions for leading UK house builders and high-profile social housing projects, where sustainability and eco-credentials are of the utmost priority.
