Bertone Manor in Northamptonshire has become the first development within the Mid Counties to incorporate Russell Roof Tiles’ Lothian pitched roofing tiles in Autumn Stone.
The private housing development forms part of Hanwood Park in Kettering and consists of three, four and five-bedroom homes. Working closely with Britain’s biggest housebuilder, Barratt Homes and its roofing contractor, Steadfast Roofing, Russell Roof Tiles supplied more than 100,000 of its Lothian tiles for the 166 three-storey homes.
Russell Roof Tiles’ Autumn Stone tiles are one of three stone varieties to have been introduced to the manufacturer’s Natural Range. This expanding selection of concrete pitched roof tiles has seen growth in the housebuilding sector since it was launched in 2016 and has already been used widely on housing developments in the UK.
However, this was the first time that Russell Roof Tiles’ Autumn Stone has been specified in the Mid Counties area since its launch. Barratt Homes chose the tile as it not only replicates the look of local natural stone, but also offered the long-lasting attributes of a concrete interlocking roof tile. At a time when extreme weather conditions can cause roofing issues, consistency and longevity is just as important to housebuilders as the appearance. Sustainable products help minimise the life time costs of the roof once installed.
Lothian’s thinner leading-edge design also features a mock joint and hidden interlock, helping to speed up installation, making it faster and easier for developers and builders. When laid, the tile gives the appearance of a small format tile with the commercial benefits of a larger format tile.
