The Manufacturing Technology Centre in Coventry has been named in a list of the top 75 companies to work for in the Midlands.

In the second accolade of its kind in just a few weeks, the MTC is listed at number 57 in the prestigious “75 Best Companies to Work For in the Midlands – 2020” list. The listing recognises the MTC’s workforce engagement and teamwork.

The prestigious achievement comes hot on the heels of the Sunday Times “100 Best Companies to Work For in 2020”, which listed the MTC at number 77 nationally and gave the centre a coveted two-star accreditation.

The Midlands list, compiled in association with Insider Media, lists the companies with the highest Regional Best Companies Index scores following a detailed survey covering all aspects of employee satisfaction.

MTC chief executive Dr Clive Hickman said the accolade reflects the efforts taken to make sure the MTC is a great place to work, and that employees are engaged, highly valued and looked after.

“The MTC employs more than 800 talented people, including some of the best science, engineering and manufacturing brains in Europe and we go to great efforts to make the MTC a happy and satisfying place to work, while at the same time challenging our people to fulfil their potential. We have a great team ethos as we work to support to manufacturing in the UK,”

he said.

He added,

“It is vitally important that we retain this valuable pool of talent and continue to attract the best from around the globe as we continue to grow. It is the capabilities and expertise of our people which will benefit our members and the companies we work with, and ultimately benefit manufacturing in the UK. Organisations like ours can only progress and succeed with the contribution and hard work of our people.”

The MTC was founded by the University of Birmingham, Loughborough University, the University of Nottingham and TWI Ltd. The MTC’s industrial members include some of the UK’s major global manufacturers.

The MTC aims to provide a competitive environment to bridge the gap between university-based research and the development of innovative manufacturing solutions, in line with the Government’s manufacturing strategy. The MTC is part of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult, supported by Innovate UK.
