Garbe Industrial Real Estate GmbH is developing a state-of-the-art automobile logistics centre in Flechtorf, south of Wolfsburg. The engineering service provider Bertrandt will store various vehicle parts and develop close-to-production prototypes in the approximately 32,000 square metre property. Earthworks started at the beginning of July. The property should be ready by the middle of next year.

The automotive logistics centre is being built on a 68,000 square metre site acquired by Garbe Industrial Real Estate at the end of last year. The planned property consists of two parts: a hall measuring almost 17,900 square metres is intended for vehicle construction and will be divided into individual work areas with the aid of partition walls. Vehicle components such as airbags, shock absorbers, tyres and spare parts are to be stored in a second 13,800 square metre hall. In addition, there will be around 3,100 square metres of office space spread over the two areas.

The automotive logistics centre will be equipped with a total of 14 dock levellers and 16 ground-level sectional doors. Parking spaces for 249 cars and six trucks will be created on the outdoor site. Garbe Industrial Real Estate will invest 35 million euros in project development.

“With the new building, we are once again demonstrating our expertise in the field of light industrial, a special type of real estate, which combines production-related and logistics services under one roof,” stresses Jan Dietrich Hempel, Managing Director of Garbe Industrial Real Estate. “With Bertrandt AG, we have been able to acquire one of the largest engineering service providers as a long-term tenant.”

The location decision was positively influenced by the good transport connections. The junction to the motorway 39, which connects Wolfsburg with Brunswick, is only 500 metres away from the emergent automobile logistics centre. The location is also connected to the motorway 2 Hannover – Berlin via the motorway 39.
