Romac Logistics adds extra bite to its fleet with ten new curtainsiders from Tiger

Fast-growing 3PL operator Romac Logistics continues to strengthen its geographic footprint, customer offering and versatile fleet and has taken delivery of ten new curtainsiders from Tiger Trailers, edging its vehicular asset portfolio closer to 400 trailers and over 200 truck tractor units.

Positioned as a new breed of logistics providers built on experience, Manchester-headquartered Romac Logistics set out as a specialist in chilled and ambient distribution and warehousing, which is still the firm’s core focus, but since its inception in 2018 its leaders have continuously sought to broaden the service offering to its client base that includes many household names in food, drink, and retail.

Curtainsider trailers were introduced within less than a year of Romac Logistics’ operations commencing, and their evident demand has led to the addition of ten additional 13.7m-long units from Tiger, with 3.1m side apertures and unmissable digital print liveries.

Rob McAdoo, Romac Logistics’ Managing Director, comments: “With our combined industry experience of over 100 years, our senior leadership team are familiar with Tiger’s innovative approach and strong brand, which fit in with our own values, so we’re very pleased that our research led us to choose them for our new curtainsided trailers. Tiger delivered on time and to high standards. Our thanks goes to Darren and the team for enabling us to serve an ever widening and diverse customer base.”

Tiger Trailers’ tri-axle curtainsided straight-frame builds for Romac Logistics are manufactured to EN 12642 XL standards and incorporate non-slip plywood floors with an over-beam design suited to the haulage of paper. Their pillarless clearspan roofs provide enhanced levels of light, comfort and safety for the trailers’ operatives, while delivering the strength and durability needed for fleets of today.

The safety of nearby road users, pedestrians and in particular cyclists is of paramount importance to this rapidly-expanding operator, and Romac Logistics is among the first of Tiger Trailers’ customers to specify flashing ‘No cyclist’ warning screens to the rear of their trailers.

Darren Holland, Tiger Trailers’ Sales Director, adds: “It has been a pleasure working alongside the Romac team to ensure that the trailers are to the best suited specification for them to deliver to their customer base. As a customer they reflect Tiger’s own passionate outlook, appetite for expansion and keenness to deliver and we look forward to working closely with Romac over the coming months in support of their further growth.”

Romac Logistics are passionate about the entire road transport industry and collected their first Tiger trailer from the manufacturer’s Cheshire factory in a brand new MAN TGX 26.470 truck unit branded in the 3PL provider’s livery. Operating alongside its reefers and rigids, the ten new curtainsiders have entered duty on routes serving the firm’s customers from its UK-wide sites ranging from Yorkshire and the Midlands to the south west and south coast.
